Original Creation of the EDGA

The EDGA was official created at noon on September 14, 1926. The organizational meeting was held at the Lawrence hotel, and attended by representatives of the Lawrence Park Golf Club, the Kahkwa Club and the Erie and Glenwood golf courses. The boundary limits of the new organization are so laid out as to be between Ashtabula and Dunkirk and south as far as the southern line of Crawford County.

J.A. Andrews, a prominent figure in local golf was elected president. Ramsay Burton,, chairman of the City golf commission was elected vice president. C.E. Piper of Lawrence Park and Joseph Martin were elected treasurer and secretary, respectively. The primary objective, as described in Article 2 of the constitution, was to “foster competitive golf.”
