Getting Involved

The EDGA starting conducting events in 1921 and was incorporated back in 1935 and has always been a volunteer organization dedicated to the game of golf in this geographic region.

The EDGA runs a number of events annually, ranging from a Two-man team tournaments to the Associations premier event, the Amateur Championship. Each event is either run by a tournament chairman or the EDGA’s general tournament director and, depending on the size of the field and the specific needs of the tournament, and event can involve as many as 5 or more volunteers.

With each event comes the need for a starter, rules officials, ball spotters, scorers, and other personnel to ensure that the event runs smoothly. Finding and keeping good volunteers is one of the primary responsibilities, not mention probably the most difficult, of the Board of the EDGA.

Finally, the EDGA is governed by a Board of Directors. The current Board is made up of individuals who have been in their position for a number of years. Once again, the EDGA is always looking for individuals interested in fostering the game of golf through volunteering in one of the aforementioned areas… including the Board!

If you would like to become a volunteer, or know of someone who would please contact any of the officers.
