Match Play Field set for Semi-Finals

Posted: June 12th, 2026

The match play field has been cut to the four semi-finalist and a rematch of last year’s finals is still in play as the defending champion, Breckin Taylor has advanced as well as last year’s runner-up, Mike Wolfe.

Taylor received a first round bye and then defeated Andy Klein and Ryder Grignol by identical 4&3 scores. He will need to defeat Chase Recio to have a chance to face Wolfe again. Recio defeated Matt Modica (1up), Chris Keim (1up) and 8-time EDGA major champion Ron Coleman (2up) to earn his berth in the semis.

Wolfe breezed over Aiden Keenan in the first round 8&6 before defeating 3-time match play champion, Chris Kupniewski 3&2 and finally bested Sal Vella in the quarter finals 4&3. Wolfe is also a match win away from returning to the finals, and this would be his 3rd consecutive final and 5th overall. Wolfe faces Tim Weyand, the only player left with a home course advantage. Weyand defeated Jimmy Callaghan in the first round 3&2 and then pulled off the upset of this year’s match play defeating the current EDGA Amateur Champion, Alex Weir 1up. He then defeated 2021 champion Jon Merriott 2up to advance to the semis.

The semi final matches will tee of at 9:00 on Saturday morning at Whispering Woods.
