Juniors Start with a BANG!
The 2016 Erie Sport Store Flagship City Junior Tour got underway Tuesday at Beautiful Scenic Heights Golf Course in Wattsburg. You wouldn’t know it was the first event as several players showed midseason form. Leading a laundry list of exceptional rounds were a pair of three under par 69’s posted by David Nichols and Alex Pol in the Boys 16 to 18 age group. Former Cathedral Prep teammates, Robbie Harris and Baldwin Wallace bound Ben Ladaika followed close behind with respectable rounds of 73(+1).
In the boys 13 to 15 age group, it was Flagship veteran Luke Misko setting the pace with a dazzling 73 as well with multiple winner Skyler Carr following close behind with a 77(+5).
In boys 10 to 12 action, Flagship Tour newcomer Braden Hilditch announced his presence with authority by claiming the division win by way of a round of 90, four strokes ahead of Kyle Westfall.
Strong play was also plentiful in girls action as Sarah White’s 83 took home Girls 12 to 15 honors ahead of Natalie Brosig’s 92 and McDowell’s Tori Berlin (88) claimed the top spot in the eldest girls division by way of a four stroke victory over Warren multisport standout Rachel Wilson (93).
Junior’s return to action next Tuesday and Wednesday as the compete in the 2016 Junior Stroke Play Championship at Union City Country Club. Play commences via shotgun each day at 8:30am.
