Sue Lefaiver

Sue is a graduate of the St. Benedict Academy and the Erie Business School and comes from a large family, having 5 brothers and 3 sisters. She has worked at the City of Erie for 38 years.

Her interests were primarily in Basketball and Softball in her younger years having been part of two city championship basketball teams at St. Ben’s. She played City Rec fastpitch softball for 5 year. She also coached the St. Luke’s girls basketball team for 7 years. Then she discovered the game of golf and got hooked. She joined the Erie Golf Club in 1977 and has been a member ever since. That same year she joined the Erie Golf Belles and the next year became a member of the EDWGA.

Sue has remained active on the local golf scene having been President of the EDWGA twice as well as Vice President and Club Rep. She has chaired the EDWGA Match Play Championship and also the EDWGA Couples tournament. She chaired the Erie Women’s Invitational and worked on numerous committees over the 11 years of that event. Since 2008 she has been involved with the EDWGA Junior Girls golf program at JC Martin.

She has competed in the EDWGA for over 30 years, USGA Public Links (1978-80), the Women’s Western PA Golf Association as well as many other area events. Her most coveted accomplishments are her 2 EDWGA Match Play Championship titles which came in 1995 and 2000. She also added 4 EDWGA Senior titles in 2003, 2004, 2009, and 2010.

She was honored by the Times-News as one of the 100 female “Athletes of the Century.”
