JOHN BRITTON

John graduated from Strong Vincent in 1938 and attended Bucknell University and graduated from Harvard Law School in 1948. He spent 3 years as a pilot in the Air Force and later wned Pepsi Cola Co. in Erie, and was the former owner of Riverside Golf Course.

Won the EDGA Amateur championship (when format was match play) in 1956 and 1958. Was 1st to win EDGA title when it became stroke play in 1961. He won the Kahkwa Club championship 11 times and the Northwest Pennsylvania Amateur in 1956. He pParticipated for Erie team in League of Lower Lakes. One time he had 17 consecutive rounds at 70 or under at Kahkwa. In July 1957, he set Kahkwa amateur course record of 64, broken years later by Dr. Richard Marasco.
