The Downing Golf Club team captured the Men’s Interclub event on Sunday May 24th at the Whispering Woods Golf Club with a score (best 5 of 6) of 387. Lake Shore and Whispering Woods (A) finished second and third, respectively, with a score of 390.

There were 8 teams competing for the title and, unfortunately, Lawrence Park GC was not able to defend their title.

This was Downing’s sixth title since the event moved to stroke play in 1976. Lake View leads with 11 while Kahkwa has 7.

The winning team was comprised of co-medalists Mike Newcomer (73) and Cory Smith (73), Dave Spitzer (79), Tom Holdsworth (80), Mike Slupski (82), and Jeff Webster (87).

Jim Delsandro shot 74 for Whispering Woods (B), followed by Ellery Tarbell (LV-A), Bob Paris and Scott Simonsen (LS) with 75’s. Whispering Woods A team members Ron Coleman and Rick Carlotti were next at 76.

Entries for the EDGA’s first major, the Match Play Championship are due in the EDGA Administrative office by Wednesday May 20th.

The event is being hosted by the Lake View CC with the qualifier on Wednesday June 10th and matches to follow on Friday June 12th through Sunday June 14th.
